Cuts like a knife through the toughest terrain. More aggressive too: Holds a tight line in curves with its new sharks-tooth U-Blocks. Perfect for fast cross country & marathon races. Schwalbe has optimized the inner strength of its MTB tyres: In 2011 and 2012 all top models will have new, Triple Star compounds. It is a modular system whereby individual compounds are cleverly combined. All 2011/2012 EVO versions are now 'Tubeless Ready'. Simply by adding a liquid puncture sealant they can be made into Tubeless tyres.
PLEASE NOTE the ORC and wired versions are not tubeless ready tyres.
- Each Triple Star compound consists of three unique compounds.
- The special 2012 Racing Ralph now comes in a new and unique 4-Cross edition. The special GateStar compound was developed in cooperation with multiple World Champion and Worldcup winner Jared Graves. The GateStar difference: Extremely soft shoulder mixture. It gives the tyre exceptionally adept cornering ability. The stable SnakeSkin sidewalls also make Tubeless conversion very simple.
- All Triple Compounds have the same, extremely elastic base compound under the tread that makes the tyres fast. All other desired properties are achieved by placing a special compound in the tread centre and on the tyre shoulders - a different one for each intended purpose.
More info here -> Schwalbe site and Tubeless Ready - NOTE: When converting lightweight tubeless-ready MTB racing tyres to tubeless, the process can take up to 3 days of consistent sealing and sealant will seep from the sidewalls of the tires. LIGHTWEIGHT MTB racing tyres are inherently thin in the sidewalls and will require extra care.

"Hi Steve,
Rode with those racing ralphs last night, there great & I loved them! I have to ride 16 mile on the road to get to the Purbecks to ride down here and really noticed a big difference! They roll so much better and quiter than nobby nics on the road. Conditions were dry and even dusty in places last night and the tyres gripped really well. Did three hard climbs, two loose n rocky and a very long rooty one and they gripped great all the time, awsome on fast singletack as well:)
Going for a pre work blast tomorrow just to get some more miles on them:) "
